I recall natural gas going up by 30% recently. Since it's pretty much a cartel, all the fuel companies upped their price by 30% following that. So you're being smashed by high gas prices in a country that's mostly cold and it's a necessity rather than a luxury to have heating.
Fuel prices rose by extortionate amounts during the war in Iraq as oil prices went way above $100 per barrel. Now they are down lower than they've been for years at nearly $40 per barrel, we've seen price reductions in the order of a few pennies. Still a pound a litre to fill up your car.
So what's new? This is the UK and people don't do anything about it so they get companies like that who kick sand in their face 'because they can'.
Instead of complaining on a public forum, do someting about it for a change. Picket the companies, boycott their services, lodge a formal protest outside the house of commons but FFS, ACT instead of just complaining and you'll get more results.
With enough people getting together, someone has to listen because they know it can get very nasty if they don't. Also, don't just accept things like the 2% reduction in VAT, that's bull**** to appease the masses, it saves you only 1 pound for every 50 you spend (big deal). Get a real deal that will actuallly leave you with money in your pocket instead of the few scraps they offer that leave effectively you no better off.
It's this country's inability to stand up and be counted that's led to this sort of thing. The longer you leave it, the worse it will get. While you scrimp and save for a few pennies each week, the fat cats and politicians laugh at you while thir coffers are overflowing with your hard earned cash that you've just let them take off you without protest.
Are you a little thick? I was pointing out that someone said on the news that the rail firms were "ripping off passengers"
The fact that thats stating the bleeding obvious is my point. No one, that I am aware of, mentioned that the utility companies are ripping us off, on the news today so I never mentioned they were stating the bleeding obvious.
Please reread my post and understand it before having a pop at me. _______________________________________
